Clinical Trauma Professional
Meet Julie (Jules) Stone, LICSW, CCTP
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker and certified clinical trauma professional. I provide individual and couples therapy to adults experiencing challenges with trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic health issues, emotional eating, and difficulties in relationships with self and others. I also especially enjoy working with individuals identifying as LGBTQIA+ and providing affirming treatment.
The foundation of my clinical approach is based in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while drawing from other treatments such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems therapy (IFS), and narrative approaches to meet the unique needs and preferences of my clients as we work to achieve their specific goals. Working with the connections between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors helps us make meaningful, sustainable changes in our lives as well as tap into the power of our inner dialogue, perspectives, and core beliefs.
I have a particular interest in working with survivors of trauma and it is a privilege to be part of their healing. I am a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) and am also EMDR (Level II) trained. We will work together to help you establish your sense of safety and address symptoms that are intruding on your present day life. I take a forward-facing approach when working with trauma, with mindful use of interventions, if past experiences need to be addressed.
My Background
I received my master’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. In my 25 years of clinical experience, I have treated clients in a variety of settings and systems including hospitals, family services, and private practice. Prior to joining PVD Psychological Associates, I provided individual and group therapy for adults in Lifespan’s Lifestyle Medicine Program and, before that, The Miriam Hospital’s Behavioral Medicine Program.
My Approach & Philosophy
My overarching goal as a therapist is to understand the whole person I am working with, including their strengths, the systems in which they exist, their personal values, and spiritual beliefs. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify specific goals to help them be the best, most authentic version of themselves.
I take a down-to-earth, flexible approach to my work. I have cultivated a large knowledge base so that I can best help and support my clients by creating a personally tailored, unique treatment approach.
I am honored that you are considering working with me and look forward to connecting with you.
