Rhode Island Therapist
Dr. Jolie Weingeroff is a Clinical Psychologist at PVD Psychological Associates in Providence, RI. She has advanced training in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for adults, college students, and adolescents. Her areas of specialization include anxiety, eating disorders, relationship issues, and student and graduate student mental health. She also has extensive experience working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals and their families.
As a Clinical Psychologist with extensive training and years of experience in academic and research settings, Dr. Weingeroff has a particular interest in working with graduate students, fellows, faculty, and others working in academia or academic medical settings. Dr. Weingeroff enjoys helping these clients navigate the unique stressors and challenges associated with being part of this culture. Graduate school, fellowships, and residency are critical times in identity development and can be extraordinarily demanding. These positions often lead to an increase in anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and over-identifying with one’s achievements or career. Faculty encounter similar challenges with work-life balance, burn out, departmental politics, and publishing pressure. Dr. Weingeroff is familiar with these issues from her own experience as a student, trainee, and researcher, as well as her years of treating students and faculty members.
Dr. Weingeroff ultimately wants her clients to feel empowered to take control of their lives and increase their confidence in their ability to navigate difficult situations. Dr. Weingeroff would like her clients to better understand the connection between early experiences, current thought patterns, and behavior. She utilizes her specialized training in evidence-based therapies and her collaborative style to help clients change thought patterns and behaviors, and develop more helpful ways to manage their emotions. She meets clients where they are and maintains an open dialogue with them to make sure they feel they are making progress in therapy. Dr. Weingeroff is happy to be back in her hometown of Providence and working with the greater Rhode Island community.
